Arnold Schönberg Chamber Symphony No. 1, op. 9
Arnold Schönberg Pierrot Lunaire, op. 21
Concert commemorating the centenary of the performance of the work Pierrot Lunaire at the Palau de la Música Catalana under the baton of Arnold Schönberg himself.
The Arnold Schönberg Festival was held in Barcelona on 29 April 1925 and marked the first performance in Spain of the Austrian composer's melodrama, ten years after its premiere in Berlin.
A key work of musical modernism, Pierrot Lunaire is based on a selection of 21 poems by Albert Giraud, with a radical message about love, religion, violence, crime and blasphemy.
Since 2017 one of today’s most outstanding soloists, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, who bedazzles the public by playing the violin like a force of nature, has performed it on stages around the world accompanied by five other musicians.
