On October 28th, we will inaugurate our Ninth Season, a season in which we remain committed to the city of Barcelona by continuing to offer a series of concerts with the highest musical and artistic excellence. Some of the world’s best soloists and conductors will visit us again, as well as prestigious international orchestras, to perform great works from the universal repertoire.
In this first concert at the Palau de la Música Catalana, we will be visited by artists we have been waiting for more than 10 years to see. The Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich was last in the city of Barcelona in 1998, 26 years ago, and coincidentally, it was with Neeme Järvi, the father of Paavo Järvi, who will accompany them this time. The soloist on that occasion was the soprano Felicity Lott.
As for Paavo Järvi, he hasn't visited us since 2011, 13 years ago. That time, he performed with the Orchestre de Paris and pianist Denis Matsuev. As for Lisa Batiashvili, the guest violinist for the opening concert of BCN Clàssics, we have been waiting for her since 2010, when we last saw her with the OBC and conductor John Nelson.
It will therefore be a unique opportunity to listen to great artists who have been absent from Barcelona’s musical scene for a long time.
