Music by Mozart, Haydn, Strauss, Schumann and folk songs
A unique example of musical tradition, the history of the Vienna Boys’ Choir goes back to the 13th Century. Either with their concerts at the Imperial Chapel, Vienna (Wiener Hofmusikkapelle), or through their world tours, the Vienna Boys’ Choir is today divided into four choirs named after four composers closely related to the rich musical history of the Austrian capital: Bruckner, Haydn, Mozart and Schubert. Precisely around one of these composers, Haydn, is the programme proposed for this evening, combining music of the era and from the three countries essential in the composer’s life: Austria, Hungary and England. A wonderfully varied programme sung by what is, without a doubt, the most famous boys’ choir in the classical music world.
