Beethoven, Symphony No. 5 in C minor, op. 67
Mahler, Symphony No. 5
Winner of the Cadaqués International Conducting Competition in 1994, the career of the Italian conductor Gianandrea Noseda has been unstoppable since then, but always with close ties to the different projects of the Catalonian orchestra. Recently named Principal Guest Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra (Sir Simon Rattle declared "I have long admired his music-making, with its unusual marriage of lyricism and drama"), Noseda returns to conduct the Cadaqués Orchestra in a joint project with the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra in a marvelous duel of two Fifth Symphonies the one written by Beethoven between 1804 and 1808 and the one written by Mahler between 1901 and 1902. From Beethoven's blows of fate to the trumpet solo of Mahler that seems to reflect them in a mirror and, it is clear, the famous Adagietto that Luchino Visconti (Death in Venice) converted into the soundtrack of more than one life. Beethoven and Mahler: duel of Fifth Symphonies. A spectacular season closure for BCN Clàssics!
