Sor, Ouverture of the ballet 'Alphonse et Léonore ou l’amant peintre'
Mendelssohn, Violin Concerto in E minor, op. 64
Beethoven, Symphony No. 2 in D Major, op. 36
Sir Neville Marriner, a giant of classical music and one of the conductors that has garnered enormous popularity (since his founding of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields in 1958 to its participation in the 1984 movie soundtrack for Amadeus, by Milos Forman), has built over the last years a privileged relationship with the Cadaqués Orchestra. A relationship that has also opened the possibility of exploring an extremely diverse symphonic repertoire, as in this concert, with a great soloist, the recent Grammy-winning violinist Augustin Hadelich, playing Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto, plus music by Catalan Ferran Sor and finishing with a work by a composer that forms the backbone of BCN Clàssics 2016-17 season: Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2.
