One more night, Evgeni Kissin sold out the Palau de la Música again to prove that he is one of the most brilliant pianists of our time.
With a program varied in genre and style, the pianist included music by great masters of the Baroque, Romanticism and the 20th century. J.S.Bach's Partita No. 2, one of the most technically demanding of the German master's suite collection, opened the concert.
He followed his beloved Chopin, with two nocturnes (No. 1, Op. 27; and No. 2, Op. 32) and, from the same compositional period, Scherzo No. 4, a piece that traverses different moods, from joy to recollection.
The second part was dedicated entirely to Dmitri Shostakovich. With Sonata No. 2, divided into three movements; to end with a neo-baroque touch with the Preludes and Fugues, Nos. 15 and 24, Op. 87.
After long ovations, the soloist wanted to thank the audience for their applause by giving them three encores: Sicilienne BWV 1031 by J.S.Bach; and Scherzo No. 2 and Waltz No. 7 by Chopin.
As always, a magnificent recital in which Evgeni Kissin captivated and enchanted the audience, whom he wanted to greet and offer autographs at the end of the concert.
